Kamchatka Environmental Violations Exceed 15 Million Rubles

Over the past six months, authorities in the Kamchatka region identified nearly 800 violations of environmental protection laws. As a result of these enforcement efforts, 99 individuals faced administrative and disciplinary action.

Regulatory oversight focused on the protection of land, water bodies, and air quality, alongside waste management and the utilization of wildlife and forests. Within the fishing sector, officials halted various offenses – including illegal activities in water protection zones, operations conducted without required permits, and the discharge of wastewater into aquatic ecosystems.

To address the financial impact resulting from the illegal extraction of aquatic biological resources, 14 lawsuits were filed in court seeking to recover more than 15 million rubles in environmental damages.
