Traces of ermine found on Kultuchny Lake in Petropavlovsk

Traces of ermine were noticed on the surface of Kultuchny Lake in Petropavlovsk. This was told by representatives of the public organization “Ecology Kamchatka”.

According to experts, the appearance of a predatory animal in a pond is a good sign. After all, despite their small size, they successfully hunt rats, which have recently been extremely numerous on the lake in the city center, 41 Region reports.

“In January, traces of a gray rat were noted near the Kultuchny Lake footpath — their numerous settlement was evacuated by the sanitary inspection station in September, the city carried out the deratization, but the result, as they say, is obvious: large and small rats continue to inhabit Kultuchny. The good news is that ermine tracks, which we have noted in previous years, are a rat hunter. Well, at least some help,” the environmentalists say.

Earlier it was reported that the Kultuch Lake in the center of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky was occupied by rats. The pests were attracted by the food that the inhabitants of the peninsula left in large quantities, feeding the ducks.
