The authorities of the Kamchatka Territory predict that about 450 thousand people will visit the peninsula this tourist season. This was announced by the governor of the region, Vladimir Solodov, in an interview with Interfax.
“Last year, we exceeded the flow of 400,000 tourists, and in 2019, before the pandemic, the flow was about 180,000. That is, they have more than doubled,” said the head of the region.
At the same time, Solodov stressed that the key task of the authorities is not just to increase the number of visitors, but to develop a sustainable tourism model that brings economic benefits to the local population and improves the infrastructure of the peninsula.
“The goal in itself is to create sustainable tourism that makes a positive contribution to the region, creates jobs for local residents, taxes, opportunities for high—quality infrastructure and territory development, and not just to work off the number of people who come,” Solodov added.
Earlier, RBC Primorye reported that in five years, the tourist flow to the Far East could reach 12.5 million people per year, which is twice as much as the region receives today. In 2024, the Far East received 6.5 million tourists, which is 5% more than in 2023. The revenues of hotels and other accommodation facilities increased by 30%.
