In Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, authorities have secured the recovery of 660,000 rubles to the state revenue, derived from the sale of property used in illegal seafood trafficking operations.
In June, two residents of the regional capital were convicted of the illicit trade of unlabelled food products on an especially large scale. The individuals had purchased unlabelled fish, caviar, crab, crab parts, and preserves with a total value exceeding 15 million rubles for subsequent distribution. A portion of these products was sold before the operation was halted.
The court initially imposed fines totaling one million rubles on the businessmen. However, the original sentencing failed to address the property utilized to facilitate the illegal activities. The illicit seafood products were stored using specialized equipment, including a refrigerated container, a refrigeration monoblock, and two chest freezers.
Following an appeal of the initial verdict, a subsequent review of the case resulted in the forfeiture of 660,000 rubles to the state – representing the equivalent financial value of the equipment used to conduct the illegal enterprise.
