A criminal case has been opened regarding the illegal extraction of aquatic biological resources in the Ust-Bolsheretsky District of Kamchatka. A 60-year-old resident of Paratunka village is the primary suspect in the poaching investigation.
On September 8, law enforcement officers located a boat equipped with a 24-meter net on the right bank of the Opala River – approximately 117 kilometers east of Oktyabrsky village. The vessel contained four kilograms of sockeye salmon caviar and three kilograms of chum salmon caviar.
The ecological damage to local aquatic resources is estimated to exceed 192,000 rubles. Authorities have confiscated the boat, the fishing net, and the poached caviar.
