Bering Island recently hosted a series of events as part of the Sea of Life festival, focusing on the marine environment of the Commander Islands National Park. Residents of the local village of Nikolskoye participated in educational sessions to explore the regional aquatic ecosystems.
The program highlighted the habitat of the Kitolovnaya Bank – an underwater elevation in the open ocean between Bering and Medny islands. The ocean floor in this designated area is populated by diverse marine species, including sea urchins, starfish, sea anemones, and various fish.
Photographic and video materials for the presentations were provided by the Dive Photo Team. These visual resources were gathered as part of a Presidential Nature Fund project dedicated to conducting a visual study of underwater biodiversity across the waters of the Commander Islands.
