Kamchatka children joined the Bird Feeder campaign
A winter bird feeding campaign is taking place in kindergartens and schools in the capital of the region, according to the KAMCHATKA-INFORM RAI, with reference to the education department of the Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky administration.
Winter is the hardest time for urban birds. With the onset of cold weather, it is very difficult for sparrows, pigeons, bullfinches and chickadees to find food. Preschoolers, together with their parents and caregivers, make bird feeders and make sure that the birds have enough food.
“With the onset of winter, birds began to fly to the kindergarten more often. To help the birds survive the hungry season, our garden took part in a bird feeding campaign. Now we can not only watch the birds, but also admire the wonderful canteens for them,” said the staff of kindergarten No. 29 “Olenok”.
“With love and creativity, the parents approached the construction of feeders, and then, together with the children, hung them on trees, they now bring bird food every day,” said the teachers of kindergarten No. 8 “Rainbow”.
A winter bird care campaign was also held in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky schools. The primary school students are most actively involved in it.
“Creating bird feeders in winter is not only an act of kindness, but also an important step to maintain vulnerable species and preserve ecological balance,” say the teachers of school No. 11.
The Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky School of Young Talents also creatively joined the campaign. The students of the studio “Fundamentals of Animation” created an animated film based on Anatoly Chepurov’s poem “It’s hard for birds to winter”.
