Prices for fish and fish products in Russia may increase from 5 to 20% in 2025.
This was announced by the executive director of the Association of Industrial and Trade Enterprises of the Fish Market (VARPE) Alexander Fomin in an interview with URA.RU.
Fomin explained that the rise in price is due to several factors, including inflation, changes in exchange rates, catch volumes of various types of fish, as well as Russia’s international political and economic relations with other countries.
Experts predict that rising fish prices will become part of the general trend of rising prices for food and other goods in Russia. For example, the cost of coffee in 2025 could rise by 20–30%, and rental housing will increase by 10–15% by spring.
Consumers are advised to take into account upcoming changes and plan their purchases, since fish remains an important product in the diet of Russians.
