Fishermen of the Kamchatka Territory have caught more than 3.9 thousand tons of red fish during the current salmon harvest, the Telegram channel of the Federal Agency for Fisheries writes.

“Kamchatka is the main region of Pacific salmon production. Fishermen of the region caught more than 3,900 tons of red fish according to the operational data of the CSMS (Rosrybolovstvo industry monitoring system),” the report says.

Ilya Shestakov, head of the Russian Fisheries Agency, and Vladimir Solodov, Governor of the Kamchatka Territory, discussed Putin’s salmon campaign on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

Rosrybolovstvo clarified that scientists of the Scientific Research Center of the Russian Federation “All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography” (VNIRO) are conducting scientific support for Putin. They monitor the population of juvenile pink salmon, sockeye salmon and chum salmon on the rivers of Kamchatka using camera traps, sonar systems and drones, explained the head of the department Shestakov.

Commercial salmon production this year began on May 20 in Primorye, then gradually in all regions, Rosrybolovstvo reported earlier. The exhibition started in the Kamchatka Territory on June 1.
