The fleet of the Kamchatka Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography has been replenished with unmanned aerial vehicles for aerial monitoring of salmon spawning grounds.
According to the telegram channel «Fisherman of Kamchatka», these are two types of – aircraft with a flight duration of 180 minutes, and multi-rotor.
Using technology, specialists will be able to explore vast areas, record the number of Pacific salmon producers and monitor the conditions of spawning areas, as well as create electronic maps of spawning grounds.
In addition, drones can detect capelin accumulations in coastal sea areas.
