The Volcanoes of Kamchatka Nature Park was headed by Viktor Komarov

Viktor Komarov has been appointed director of the Kamchatka Volcanoes Nature Park since March 3, Kamchatka.Today reports with reference to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Kamchatka Territory.

Viktor Komarov was educated at the Irkutsk State Agricultural Academy, majoring in Biology, Hunting, and Environmental Protection.

From 1998 to 2000, he worked in the hunting department of the Kamchatka Region Administration as a hunting specialist for the Yelizovsky District State Hunting Supervision Service. Then he worked in the Kronotsky Nature Reserve, where until 2008 he held the positions of senior State Inspector for the protection of the reserve, Deputy Director for the protection of the reserve, Deputy Director of the Reserve for Environmental Protection and Environmental Safety, acting director of the reserve.

From 2008 to 2010, he headed the KSU Yuzhno-Kamchatsky Nature Park, and from 2010 to 2016, he headed the Kamchatka Volcanoes Nature Park. From 2017 to 2018, he was Deputy General Director of KamFin LLC, and from 2018 to 2025, he worked at the Center for Economic Development of the Yelizovsky District Administration as a specialist at the EMR Tourist Information Center, head of the Entrepreneurship and Tourism Development Department, and director of the institution.

As reported, the previous director of the Volcanoes of Kamchatka Nature Park, Lyubov Timofeeva, resigned after handing down an unfair, in her opinion, guilty verdict to employees of the Kronotsky Reserve in the case of its cleaning. After that, several acting heads were replaced in the KGB “Natural Park” “Volcanoes of Kamchatka”.

According to Kamchatka.Today, the director of the park was appointed by the regional Minister of Natural Resources Alexey Kumarkov, and he himself has not yet been fired, despite a public request for resignation. According to reports, Kumarkov is far from the only one in Solodov’s team who is asking to resign.

The Volcanoes of Kamchatka network of nature parks consists of 6 specially protected natural areas, which contain 13 active and more than 100 extinct volcanoes. There are 20 winter and 27 summer hiking routes through the natural parks of the territory.
