Salmon and nets: fishing rules in Kamchatka may be changed

Andrey Zdetovetsky, Minister of Fisheries of the Kamchatka Territory, held a meeting with residents of the Milkovsky Municipal District, during which issues of access to recreational fishing were discussed. Residents of the villages of Atlasovo, Lazo and Taiga expressed concern about the lack of opportunity to use nets in nearby fishing areas.

Andrey Zdetovetsky stressed the importance of ensuring legal access of the population to catch Pacific salmon for personal needs. He noted that, despite the restrictions imposed in the Milkovsky district due to the state of fish stocks in the upper reaches of the Kamchatka River, it is necessary to find a solution that will allow residents to carry out amateur fishing. The minister said that the administration of the Atlasov rural settlement will prepare proposals for the selection of a fishing area that can be used for these purposes. After that, the Ministry of Fisheries initiates the introduction of appropriate changes to the rules of fishing.

It is worth noting that 116 fishing sites have been opened in Kamchatka for amateur fishermen. Citizens have the right to fish freely and free of charge in public water bodies that are not assigned to users. In addition, amateur fishermen can register their nets through the Public Services portal, which simplifies the procedure and makes it more transparent. These measures are aimed at balancing the conservation of fish resources and ensuring public access to traditional fisheries.
